Looking Back: Your Goals as a Writer.
1. When you were writing your book, did you do it for love or for money or…?  What drove you through the rough draft and the rewrites?  
2. When you sought publication, what motivated you through the long process?  What were your hopes and dreams?

Taking Stock:  Where are you now?
How are your sales?  Are you meeting, exceeding, or still seeking your goals?  Some of us get bogged down in this being the only evaluation for a books success.  There’s much more.
1. What works and doesn’t work for generating interest for your book? 
2. Have you found two or three things that you like doing to promote your work and which give you positive energy?  Have you discovered some things to avoid?
3. How is your Network?  Are you creating new connections?
4. What doors has publication opened for you?  Speaker?  Consultant?  Coach?  Sales of related merchandise?  New book projects?
5. How is your Vision?  In what ways do you see yourself differently now that you are a published author?

Author goals vary from creating a family memoir, to building credibility as a speaker, to cashing checks for the next best-seller.  There’s a saying that “Everyone has a book inside of them.”  We authors are amongst the few have made the full journey to publication.
