Tools and Techniques - Newsletters.

Perhaps the greatest value in publishing your book is that you’re now perceived as the expert in your area, whether you write children’s fiction, poetry, non-fiction, or adult fiction.
1. Newsletters can be a good way of sharing your expertise and drawing readers to your book.
2. A major benefit of newsletters is collecting emails so you can inform readers about your book, products, services, and events.

About the Newsletter Plus feature:
Your American Author website is equipped with Newsletter Plus, which allows you to:
1. Easily create newsletters for emailing
2. Automatically display newsletters directly on your website
3. Automatically add and remove emails from subscribers, directly from your website.
4. Organize your newsletter mailings according to whatever groupings you choose.

For instructions on using Newsletter Plus see the American Author Support Page for video or text instructions.

Tips for writing an effective Newsletter:
Your readers have all signed up for your newsletter. They want your expertise.  Still, with SPAM so prevalent, and TIME so short, your newsletter will benefit from these four tips.
1. A clear title that compels the reader to open your Newsletter.
2. Useful content, delivered in a brief, precise email.
3. Links to further information if applicable.
4. A tagline at the bottom of each newsletter that gives a one-sentence description of the author, the book, the expertise/subject, and a link to your website.
5. A regular mailing schedule.  Many newsletter writers find that an every other week schedule keeps readers engaged without overwhelming them with emails.

The American Author Newsletter feature supports up to 1,000 subscribers.  If your list grows beyond 1,000 you’ll want to use a dedicated email or autoresponder service to ensure you follow SPAM compliance procedures.

The Newsletter feature is an added option for American Author websites.  Contact support for pricing and to add Newsletter to your website.
