The Basics - Your target audience.

Whose Problems are You Solving?  In this article we’ll look a bit closer at your target audience.

These three factors will help you narrow your target audience focus.
1. What have you written about?
2. Who will benefit from what you have written?
3. What subjects and people do you care enough about that you're willing to serve these groups as an expert?

Whether your book is already published, or you’re waiting for the publication, you’ll benefit by researching how to find your target audience on the Internet.  If your topic is bicycle safety, use search engines to search for “bicycle safety blog,” and also “organizations, non-profits, t-shirts,” – whatever and wherever you might find groups of people who share an interest in your topic. If you write poetry about horses, start searching for horse related literature, organizations, events, etc.

By dedicating regular time to exploring your niche online, you may discover valuable markets for your books. YOu may even find places you can provide expert services such as presentations or consulting.  As you search, use bookmarks and favorites tabs to organize your Internet searching.  A major component of your success will be the size and quality of the network you create.
